How to Start career in Food technology and Processing.
Food Technology and Processing

At present the whole concept of food has completely changed.  Food technology based on agriculture (food processing) has opened up a lot of good and bright opportunities for employment and career.  Every year more than 2.5 lakh new employment opportunities are being created in this sector. Day by day the population is increasing with the speed of electricity and the agricultural land is continuously decreasing.

This widens the gap between production and consumption.  This gap can be bridged through the use of food technology and processing.  Processing of large quantities of food items using food technology can save them from spoilage. And food items containing better quality and nutrients can be made available for consumption in the market. This will also lead to a huge increase in employment opportunities.

Current scenario:-

In today's busy life, people have a lot of time constraints. Working women do not have time to work in the kitchen. Due to paucity of time and changing food habits, the trend of packaged processed food and beverages is increasing day by day in our country. As such, the food processing industry in our country is centuries old.

Since ancient times, women have been making pickles, murabba, amchur etc. in homes, but it is still called cottage industry. But now gradually keeping pace with the world, modern technology food fan units are being set up in our country. The quality of the products produced from these units is of world class.

India has great potential for export of processed form of value added plants, vegetables, fruits, cattle products. Dairy products, meat, poultry products and marine products are also in great demand abroad. India ranks first in the world in milk production. India also ranks first in the world in the production of vegetables and second in the production of fruits. India accounts for fifty percent of the world's mango production. If proper use of food technology and processing is done, India has the potential to become the world leader in this field.

Having a trained food technologist is essential for the success of any food technology program. Food technologists create high quality products at low cost by using appropriate technologies. The food technologist has to perform different functions such as production, quality control, marketing and procurement. Every year a large number of international level food technologists are being produced in India.
